Most gate jobs aren’t glamorous. You’re out in the weather, on your back looking up at a hinge, or climbing down from a control board trying to figure out why a FAAC operator decided to stop mid-swing at 7 a.m. on a Tuesday. That’s the actual work. If that sounds like something you’d rather do than sit at a desk, keep reading.
At Carver Gate Repair, we’ve been running jobs to The Garrison Standard since 2008. That means written prices before any work starts, clean sites when we leave, and a guarantee on every repair for a full year. For the crew, it means something specific: you don’t cut corners, you don’t make up a number at the door, and you leave the job squared away. Techs who work that way tend to want to stay. That’s the crew we’re building.
Who We’re Looking For
- Gate Repair Technician: Someone comfortable diagnosing mechanical and electrical problems fast, with hands that know the difference between a worn roller and a bent track before they reach for a tool.
- Gate Motor Specialist: Someone who has worked inside control boards, understands loop detectors and limit switches, and can troubleshoot brands like LiftMaster, FAAC, BFT, Linear, Viking, Ghost Controls, DoorKing, Elite, or Mighty Mule without needing a three-hour tutorial.
- Gate Installer: Someone who can read a site, hang a gate that’s plumb and level the first time, and wire an operator so the next technician on that property doesn’t have a mystery on their hands.
- Apprentice Technician: Someone new to the trade who’s mechanically sharp, willing to learn the right way from day one, and doesn’t think “good enough” is a standard.
- Dispatcher / Scheduler: Someone who keeps multiple moving parts organized under pressure, communicates clearly with both customers and crew, and understands that showing up inside the window we gave is non-negotiable.
- Customer Service Representative: Someone who can answer a call from a homeowner whose gate is stuck closed at midnight, stay calm, get the right information, and get help moving, because our phones are staffed by a live person around the clock, every day of the year.
What We Offer
Real Training and a Clear Path Forward
We don’t hand you a manual and wish you luck. New technicians and apprentices work alongside experienced crew members on live jobs, learning the motor brands we service and the repair standards The Garrison Standard requires. If you put in the time and do the work right, there’s a path from apprentice to lead tech, and lead techs know it.
Work You Can Be Proud Of
Because every job comes with a written price delivered before any work starts and a full-year guarantee stamped on every repair, you’re never being asked to cut corners or oversell a customer. The Garrison Code is plain: do it by the book the first time, leave the site clean and squared away, and stand behind the work. That makes it easier to drive away from a job knowing you did it right.
Local Crew, National Backing
Each Carver Gate Repair location is independently owned and operated, so you’re working with a local crew that knows the area, not a remote call center. But behind that local crew is the Garrison Partners network, which means training resources, parts access across nine major motor brands, and a name that customers recognize and trust. You get the feel of a local shop with the reach of something bigger.
Steady, Year-Round Demand
Gates break. They break in summer heat, in winter cold, after storms, and without any weather to blame at all. The demand for gate repair doesn’t have a slow season the way some trades do, and as more properties, communities, and commercial sites install automated gates, the call volume follows. This is durable, skilled-trade work with consistent need behind it.
No Experience? Read This.
If you’ve spent time working on vehicles, HVAC systems, low-voltage electrical, fences, or anything that involves diagnosing why something that’s supposed to move has stopped moving, you’re closer to this trade than you think. Gate repair draws on mechanical aptitude, basic electrical knowledge, and problem-solving under pressure. Those skills transfer directly.
What we teach: the specific motor brands we service, including how to read a control board on an Elite or a DoorKing system, how to set limits and adjust travel on an operator, and how to price and document a job to The Garrison Standard. The first months are structured time in the field with experienced crew. You’re not thrown on a job alone until you’re ready. If you’re handy, dependable, and willing to learn the trade properly, reach out. We’ll have a real conversation about where you’d fit.
How to Apply
Call us at (469) 530-2485 or fill out the form below. Tell us where you’re based, what kind of work you’ve done in the past, and when you’re available to start. Hiring is done locally, so your application goes to the Carver Gate Repair location nearest you. No resume required to start the conversation, but the more specific you are about your background, the better we can match you to the right opening.
