Franchise FAQ

We’re expanding Carver Gate Repair into new markets and looking for owners who can run a disciplined, local operation. Here are the questions we get most often from people considering the franchise.

Common Questions

Do I need gate repair experience to own a Carver location?

No. Most of our owners come from management, military, or other trades backgrounds, not gate work specifically. We train you and your technicians on the nine motor brands we service: LiftMaster, FAAC, BFT, Linear, Viking, Ghost Controls, DoorKing, Elite, and Mighty Mule. What you do need is the ability to hire carefully, manage a schedule, and hold a crew to The Garrison Standard. The technical skills we can teach. The discipline to show up inside the window, put every price in writing, and stand behind the work for a full year, that has to come from you.

What is the total investment range to open a Carver Gate Repair franchise?

The total initial investment typically runs between $125,000 and $185,000, depending on your market size and whether you start with a home-based office or lease light commercial space. That range covers the franchise fee, initial equipment and inventory, vehicle setup, training, and working capital for your first three to six months. We give you a detailed line-item breakdown in our Franchise Disclosure Document so you can see exactly where every dollar goes.

Is financing available?

Yes. Many of our franchisees use SBA-backed loans or equipment financing to cover part of the startup cost. We have relationships with lenders who understand our model and can move quickly once you’re awarded a territory. We don’t offer direct financing ourselves, but we’ll point you toward the options that have worked for other owners in the Garrison Partners family.

How is territory defined, and is it exclusive?

Your territory is exclusive and protected. We draw it around a defined population base, typically 400,000 to 600,000 residents, and we don’t put another Carver location inside those lines. The exact boundaries get worked out together before you sign, based on drive times, gate density, and local demographics. You own that market. We don’t play games with overlapping territories or corporate accounts that poach your customers.

How long is the initial training program?

Three weeks. Two weeks at our training facility covering technical work on all nine motor brands, gate fabrication basics, safety protocols, and our pricing and dispatch systems. One week in an operating Carver location shadowing a veteran owner through real calls, real customers, real problems. You’ll swing a wrench, write estimates, and handle the phone. By the time you open, you’ve already done the job dozens of times.

What ongoing fees or royalties does Carver charge?

We charge a flat monthly royalty, not a percentage of revenue, so you keep more as you grow. There’s also a modest monthly fee for our centralized phone coverage, our 24/7 live-answering service that fields every call, books every appointment, and never sends a customer to voicemail. Marketing contributions are pooled and spent in your territory, not siphoned off to build the brand somewhere else. We spell out every fee in the FDD, no surprises.

How long does it take to open after I sign?

Most owners are operational within 60 to 90 days of signing. The variables are financing approval, vehicle upfitting, and any local business licensing your municipality requires. We assign you an opening coordinator who tracks every milestone and keeps you from getting stuck. The phone system, dispatch software, and pricing guides are live before your first day. You’re not figuring it out alone.

What support do you provide after I’m open?

Field support visits at least quarterly, a dedicated business coach you can call, annual refresher training, and a private owner network where franchisees share what’s working in their markets. Our call center stays on 24/7, including weekends and holidays, so you never miss a lead. We also manage vendor relationships with the nine motor brands, so you get wholesale parts pricing and warranty backing that an independent operator can’t match. The Garrison Standard is enforced, but so is the support behind it.

What does the ideal Carver owner look like?

Someone who values systems over shortcuts. Our best owners are former military, first responders, or managers from operations backgrounds. They understand that a gate failing at 10 PM is an emergency to the homeowner, and they build a crew that responds accordingly. They don’t chase every job, they chase every job done right. If you’re looking for a passive investment or a side hustle, this isn’t it. Carver is a full-time commitment to a local business with your name on it.

What’s my next step if I want to learn more?

Call us at (469) 530-2485. You’ll speak with a real person, not a form or a callback queue. We’ll send you our franchise overview and schedule a call to talk through your market, your background, and whether the fit goes both ways. No pressure, no deposit required to start the conversation. We’re selective about who carries the Carver name, and we expect you to be selective too.

Still Have Questions?

We don’t do voicemail boxes or “leave your number and we’ll get back to you.” Call (469) 530-2485 anytime, day or night, weekend or holiday, and a live person will pick up. Or fill out the form below and we’ll call you inside the window we promise.
